As HR consultants, over the years, we’ve been exposed to many different HR and people teams nationwide. Different industries, sectors and cultures all have their own ways of managing people. But it’s those who put the wellbeing of the people they employ at the centre of their strategy, that are the most successful.
When people feel valued by their employer, they give back in return. When their physical and mental health is nurtured, they are able to bring their best self to work. When businesses invest time and money in managing people, their workforce will prosper. By getting everyone on the same page, aligned with the business strategy and clear about the role they can play, performance and productivity naturally increases. But wellbeing comes first, to ensure that your people are in the best place to positively respond and react to the business needs.
How to prioritise employee wellbeing
We’ve seen, developed and launched many creative and inventive wellbeing initiatives, but you don’t have to go above and beyond to compete with the likes of Google when it comes to your HR strategy. Ask yourselves these simple questions :
Do we genuinely care for our employees and want them to be happy at work?
Do we allow our workforce to maintain a work life balance?
Are we managing people to the best of our ability with a human approach?
If the answer is yes, great news. If it’s a no to any of the above, we have some work to do.
Managing people the human way
At The HR Hive, we champion people first, carefully balanced with a commercial view to ensure businesses are sustainable, profitable and able to grow in line with their strategy.
This way of thinking comes from the top down. It’s vital that business leaders support employee wellbeing and HR strategy, and so that’s where we begin. Let us help you understand the benefits of analysing your HR data, extracting and understanding how your workforce operate and why managing people as humans and not just numbers is the only way forward.
